The SEArcularMINE project, and EU mission to boost non-conventional mining of critical raw materials, will reach Asian and global audiences as a short documentary about the work of SEArcularMINE will be soon broadcast on China Global Television Network (CGTN) channels. The CGTN team visited UNIPA laboratories in Palermo, Sicily interviewing Andrea Cipollina, Project Co-ordinator, as well as Giuseppe Battaglia and Antonella Finilgeri two senior UNIPA researchers.  The UNIPA team presented SEArcularMINE project activities to innovate sustainable and circular, environmentally-sensitive processes to recover important minerals from seawater - specifically working with super-concentrated brines, an end-product from evaporative sea salt production. …

LOOPS is a live webinar series organised by Veltha, an International Research Association, committed to spotlighting innovation in the field of circular economy.

In celebration of International Women in Science Day, we are proud to recognize the talented women who are applying their skills to the SEArcularMINE project.

The second SEArcularMINE General Assembly was held online 2-3 December 2020. 47 partners shared updates on their work and collaborations, with many interesting discussions taking place. 

Communicating the necessity, impact and economic potential of harnessing our seas as a sustainable mineral resource is a crucial part of SEArcularMINE’s objectives. We are proud to work together with project partners, researchers and the wider stakeholder community to help maximise the value and reach of our activities.

As part of WP2 Fabrizio Vicari (ResourSEAs) worked with project partners SOSALT to complete brine sampling collections at the Trapani Saltworks, Sicily. The team had a productive expedition and enjoyed their immersion into an environment where human activities and nature have been intertwined for millennia.
